Peru is having their state and local elections this weekend. We have been enduring cars with loud speakers, signs, flyers, posters, parades, parties every night, loud bands, blaring music, fireworks and constant fire crackers that knock you out of your chair.
The thrill is over.
Along with the elections, legally no one can gather in groups this weekend. So the saints can't watch conference. They will broadcast conference next weekend here.
The office Elders Preparation day is on Saturday, different from the rest of the missionaries so they came to the mission home for one session of conference. We can watch it through slingbox. We had the Latinos hooked up to my laptop with Spanish in their earplugs.
We also did paper, rock, scissors to see who got the recliners. President Turk and Elder Jones had them the first half and then Elder Hunsaker and Andersen beat everyone for the second half. They felt bad kicking President Turk out of the chair until they heard Elder Christofferson's talk.
President Turk took the floor and was a good sport. Then we had Lucy's great tacos served on China. I know, Don't ask. They will not use paper.
General Conference, there is nothing like it. We are excited for the next session!
