Two by Two...

Another day in the life of a missionary...

Doctrine and Covenants 52:10
10 Let them go two by two, and thus let them preach by the way in every congregation, baptizing by water, and the laying on of the hands by the water’s side.

We were with Chimbote Sur Zone for interviews today.
Chimbote Sur Zone is under the direction of
the Zone Leaders
Elder Vanden Bosch and Elder Perez

One of these Hermanas has a sweet story.
When she was 17 her father was taken out of the home for abuse
and then shortly after her mother was hospitalized for years...
She was left to raise her 4 younger siblings.
There was no church in their life.
In fact, she did not believe in God.

One day her friend down the street came and asked her to go
to church with him.  She told him that she doesn't believe
in God or religion.  The friend said, "I know you don't
but please just come.  It is my farewell talk"
So she said yes... but before she left
She said a simple prayer and said...
"God, If you do exist please just let
me know what I should do'

They attended Sacrament meeting and she felt something.
It was wonderful to her.  She wanted more.
So she stayed for the other meetings.
She was in sunday school... Gospel principles class
and they talked about baptism.
They talked about why we get baptized.
and then how receiving the Holy Ghost is so important
for constant companionship of love and guidance.
She felt that God was speaking right to her.
She followed the promptings.

Right after the class she walked up
to the teacher and said she would like to be baptized.
The teacher introduced her to the missionaries.
Three weeks later she and her sister were baptized.
She met a young man shortly after and she introduced
him to the Gospel.  He was baptized...

Great things started to happen in her life.
Her mother was able to come home and take care of the family.
The ward family helped lift and love and care for them.
Three years later she and the young man
both put in their missionary papers...
They are both from Argentina...  they were both called to Perú
They left on the same day and were in the MTC together.

She is so happy to be in the mission field.
She wants everyone to know
of the happiness that the Gospel
can bring into their lives.
