Rejoice the Lord is King!

~ Felices Pascuas ~

I love my Savior, Jesus Christ.
I rejoice in His glorious Life, Death, Resurrection, Atonement...
He is the King of Kings.

I want the world to know that I testify through
study, prayer and living the gospel and witness after witness
that He is the way the truth and the light.
I will stand by Him Forever.
His ways are always the Right ways.

Today the world wants you to think that
the laws of God are outdated
and that you are even unloving if you are following the ways of God.
They can twist anything now to make
sin feel okay and the right way.

He has warned us about living on the earth in these last days...

This know also, that in the alast days perilous btimes shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, acovetous, boasters, bproud, blasphemers, cdisobedient to parents, dunthankful, unholy,
Without anatural baffectionctrucebreakersdfalse accusers, eincontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
 aTraitorsbheadychighminded, lovers of dpleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a aform of godliness, but bdenying the power thereof: from such turn away.
For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly awomen laden with sins, led away with divers blusts,
Ever alearning, and never able to come to the bknowledge of thectruth.

I want to walk in His light always.... I want to testify of Him Forever...  I want to be with Him and like Him... I want to stand in Holy Places...
I love Jesus Christ and pray that I can show Him my love by how I live my Life!

Earthquake Tremors....

We had a really strong tremor today.
President came running into the bedroom
from my office and both of us were
yelling... Earthquake!

My bed was moving and his chair was bouncing...
I will never get used to these things.

It's bizarre.
I looked it up and it was a 5.6 on the Richter scale
just off the coast of Chimbote.
No damage just some very strong movement.

To Infiniti and Beyond.... Well, to El Niño

President Turk was out there today in the field working
I mean out there...
He was 45 minutes outside of Viru
in a little place called El Niño
He was with Elder Barrios and Elder Soto

In between Virú and El Niño there is a castle
that dates back to pre Incan times.
It's funny because you can drive by a field of crops and out in the middle
is an important ruin that is still not excavated
and the crops are growing all the way around it.
They use every bit of land right up next to it.

When I see all these ruins not excavated... I want to grab a bunch of people
and get going.  If I was in charge of this .. I wouldn't be able to sleep
until it was finished.  I feel this way with every one of the
houses here too.  I want to get a team of my missionaries
and just finish house by house.
I am a land developer/builder's daughter.

But more importantly I want to teach every family the gospel
house by house.  And that is what our calling is here.
It is the most fulfilling and joyous thing I have ever done
in my life....

The world is starving and needing truth more than ever....
“A missionary is not planting something foreign or even new into an adult or a child.
Rather, the missionary or teacher is making contact with the Spirit of Christ already there.
The gospel will have a familiar ‘ring’ to them”

If the world will listen they can know for themselves that the true
Gospel of Jesus Christ is Restored to the Earth
And it is the way back to our Heavenly Father.

A person is capable of receiving spiritual guidance before
being baptized and confirmed.
This spiritual influence begins with the Light of Christ, which
“is given to every man, that he may know good from evil”

Little News Flash.... New Assistant!

We were on a road trip early this morning with our 3 Assistants
Yes... it's that time again...
Elder Zarian has been called as the new
Assistant to the President
to take Elder Mecham's spot.  He is being trained by
Elder Mecham for a couple of weeks before changes.
Elder Mecham is heading out to work hard
for a few more months.
Hopefully he can train....  He needs to have a son.
The way the numbers are going though
he might have to train a daughter or better yet
twin daughters. Not really... but it is a tricky time in all missions
I hear, not having enough Sister missionaries
to train the flood of new ones coming.

Elder Zarian is the middle child in his family.
He is from Eagle Idaho... They raise 'em good there in Eagle.
Elder Zarian is a Zealous missionary.
We are excited to have his excitement, energy
and expertise in the office.
He will be a great leader to all that are here.

President and Sister Marler... You will love this new Assistant.
We will have him up to speed on everything before you get here.

We left Elder Zarian and Elder Mecham in Chimbote to work
there for a couple of days.

Thank goodness because we had to bring Elder Sancé
and his companion Elder Sato back to Trujillo with us
and straight to the clinic.
We thought he had appendicitis and he is working
in Cachipampa.  Not a great place to get appendicitis.

But we got him here... he was checked over and it
was negative.  They will run a couple more tests
but we were not going to risk him up in the mountains
with a bad side ache...  better safe than sorry.

We also stopped and saw our little Sandia on this trip.
This time we knew her name... the missionaries went and found her
and asked her her name and met her family.
Her name is Anna Christina and she is 11 years old
and she is so happy.  I love her.
Her family has invited the missionaries over.
I told them today that I could give them a million dollars
but it would be worth nothing compared to what the
missionaries could give them and teach them.
We will see her a few more times before we leave.

We had a wonderful conference with the missionaries
in Chimbote.  I am going to put up their pictures tomorrow.
It is late and we are still receiving health phone calls
and we just finished the birthday phone calls.
Happy Birthday Elder Cook...
You are the Best!

Chimbote Photos tomorrow... Beautiful Group.... Thanks

Elders Elescano and Randall

Elder Randall has been training Elder Elescano
who is waiting for his visa to Bolivia.

They are doing very well together and in fact
Elder Elescano asked President Turk if there was any way that
he could stay in our mission and serve in Peru
and not go to Bolivia.
Oh how we would love to keep him and all of those waiting for visas.
You bond very quickly to these great young ones.

While they were out teaching today...  a young man who was a member
came running out in the street and asked if they could come and give
his grandma a blessing.  She had just traveled down from the mountains
and was very sick.  The missionaries were so happy to help.
There was a very sweet spirit there in the room.
Oh the peace and power that come with the Priesthood.
The family was so thankful.

President loves the time he has to talk about
family and the work with these companionships
as they are walking form appointment to appointment.
The elders asked president about his family growing up
and he told them that he had two siblings that have
both passed away and he is the only one left.
Each of these Elders have lost a brother too.
They shared sweet and tender experiences
with each other.

They are so thankful for the answers the Gospel teaches
about life and death and eternal life.
We are thankful for our testimonies on life after death.

Pensionista Conference/ President's Birthday Party

We love to have President Turk celebrate his birthday with the
women that we honor and love so much.

Our Pensionistas!
President Turk was shedding a few tears over these wonderful ladies.

Day in and Day out... they serve and serve and serve our missionaries.

We had our conference in the church and walked around  the corner
and sang "Happy Birthday" to our President in the Mission Home.

He was surrounded with music and love
from these wonderful women.
And alot of great food from our own pesnionistas...
Lucy and Alicia!

Because it is our last Pensionista conference I had a fun raffle in honor
of my father.   He always had door prizes
at his parties...  It was a fun addition.

Oh the sweet stories these sisters could tell....
They are the moms, psychologists, cheer leaders, nutrition specialists,
nurses, cooks etc... to our missionaries.

We Love Each and Every one of these Special Ladies!

And an added bonus today...
Ex- Elder Briones was in town and got to celebrate with his President
and a bunch of his old pensionistas.
He's been traveling our mission for the past week.
It was so nice to see him.  Of course we put him right to work
and he jumped in and made everything better.
We love you Elder Briones!

He was just another Elder from the office today...
working hard to make everything run smoothly.
We can never thank these Elders enough.

Happy Birthday to the Love of My Life....
Honey, maybe we can have a quiet dinner alone tonight

YES?

Oops the phone is ringing off the hook.
It's hard to be so loved...  isn't it President?

pensionistas again....  It's perfect

Out and About...

I am still trying to catch up on everything I missed when I was gone.
I know that some of you don't care about
these pictures but these Elders and their families care.

President was out with Elder Flansberg and Elder Calvas
this past week.

He told me that they taught a lot of lessons
and that theses missionaries were so prepared for each
one of their investigators.  I love this!

To take the time to prayerfully and specifically study
for those you are teaching is powerful
and the key to great teaching.

The Lord truly helps those that help themselves....
You have to follow the pattern and the steps to
be a fantastic teacher... then the Lord can pour out
His spirit to testify to truth.

Thank you Elders ... now enjoy some fruit on me....
No strawberries!

Huaca del Sol y la Luna

President Turk took the office Elders on their preparation day
to the ruins.  More than half of them had not been
to see them.  It was a perfect day.

This is one of the symbols that adorns
the Temples of the Sun and the Moon...
It is the called the destroyer...  I don't think I will get any china
made with this face.
But I would love china made with these faces below....

The Elders are always fascinated with all of the rituals
and beheadings and ceremonies that the tour guides talk about.

My son-in-law Landon,  just finished working for the Fender Guitar Company.
It is the company with the world famous guitars played by
Eric Clapton and all the great ones.
Landon had a great experience working for Fender in the finance department
but it was on the north side of scottsdale and
Landon and Molly just bought a home in Gilbert.
He was spending so much time on the road.
He was blessed and found a great job five minutes from his home.
This will help with three babies 3 and under.

Anyway, he stocked up on guitars and a few of the t-shirts
so I brought some for the office Elders.

They were all sporting their new Fender shirts for the big field trip.

The office Elders look great...  but even better, they are great
through and through!

Office Tour

This is a video that the office Elders made for President and Sister Marler....

Six Degrees...

President Turk was out working with Elder Pesantes and Elder Sandiford yesterday.
Elders Pesantes and Sandiford work in Intendencia
The President and the Elders were visiting this family
that were baptized about a year ago
The brother and sister have been on mini missions for us.
Now they are both going on full time missions.
This family was baptized by Elder Armstrong and Elder Llatance
And Elder Armstrong was with the Stake President and President Turk
in the evening meeting....
President Briones is the brother in law to President Turk's Counselor
Miguel Rojas.
It's always like six degrees of separation in the mission...
always connections.
Elder Sandiford and Elder Pesantes
thanks for the great day.

Line Upon Line....

On my way to the states for my Dad's funeral,
I was caught in a huge line at the LAX airport.
I have never seen such lines.
I had a connecting flight to catch and not very much time.
I said a little prayer... and was moving with my luggage to the back
of the line, when all of a sudden one of the workers grabbed me
and said that we needed to form another line....

She pushed me up near the front to form the second line.
There was a large asian man that saw what was happening
and he followed close behind me... chanting
"Yes, keep going, keep going"

We bypassed so many people I couldn't believe this luck.
or was it luck...

As we were now closer to the front waiting in line
the man from Hong Kong right behind me pointed to my name tag
and said... "What's this all about?'

I told him that I was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ.
He asked me a few more questions and then said...
Oh, you are the church that sends your handsome young men
into my country to steal our women...

I laughed... there were so many things wrong with this statement
and then I looked at him and could see that he was very serious.

I told him that I have been working for the last three years of my life
with over 600 of these missionaries...
These young men and women give up their social, educational,
financial and family needs for two years to
invite others to Come unto Christ.
I told him that I have never met finer young men and women
in all my life.  All they want to do is Serve, Lift, Love and Teach others
about our Savior and His amazing Gospel....
Great things happen because of these
young men and women.
When I was about in tears...  He said
"Wow, you have persuaded me to listen to them."

There was a young woman standing next to us listening to everything
I was saying and she said...

"I lived with a mormon family for a summer...
I have never met nicer people.
I am going to listen to the missionaries too."

There is such a craving for truth...
When people find out that what they hear about the Mormons
usually is false they are interested in the truth.
People can feel the light... they want more light.
And let me tell you that it is beautiful beyond belief
or I would not be here.
I testify that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is on the earth.
I am so grateful to be a part of this work.
We have to open our mouths and share it every day.

This great work will keep rolling forward...

.. Line upon Line.
